to think that this woman is 2 heartbeats away from the presidency is simply frightening.
in a recent interview, Nancy Pelosi actually gave thanks to those who helped to bring peace and stability to Iraq. here is an excerpt:
“Well, the purpose of the surge was to provide a secure space, a time for the political change to occur to accomplish the reconciliation. That didn’t happen. Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal.
And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians-they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities-the Iranians.”
speaker pelosi? here’s just one fact for you: Iran was responsible for killing at the very least, 170 Americans in Iraq in 2007. and frankly after such asinine statements coming from someone with so much power and who should know better, i am questioning your patriotism and your sanity!
check it out yourself. the audio from this Pelosi interview is now posted here.
unbelieveable. so voter take note: this is how the leadership of the democratic party thinks. we know how much they hate the president and now we see just how much they hate america. so if you vote democratic, you do so at your own peril and put us all at risk.
i wonder how scott mcclellan, the worst press secretary in the history of the press operation at the White House feels this morning after throwing his former boss and lifelong friend — the one who trusted him with one of the most powerful jobs in the country — under the bus for a few bucks?
here’s president bush on scott’s last day on the job at the white house. it looks like scott *coughjudascough* is getting ready to kiss him on the cheek doesn’t it?
here are just a couple of reviews on scott’s book:
“Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan has blasted his old boss, saying President Bush failed to be “open and forthright on Iraq” and relied on “propaganda” to sell the war.
McClellan’s take on the Bush administration comes in a surprisingly scathing tell-all memoir, “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception,” to be published next week, Politico.com reports.”
“Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” and took a “permanent campaign approach” to governing at the expense of candor and competence.”
while at the podium, scott always looked like a deer in headlights to me and i am sure to others. he was so terrible at his job, i guess he needs some sort of excuse other than “gross incompetence” in order to ever work again. and i think history will ignore his betrayal book and recognize that scott mcclellan was simply way over his head — too small for such a big job. ari fleischer before him and the terrific tony snow after him really emphasized what a dope scott really is.
you obviously left with a smile on your face but incredible anger and spite seething underneath. so pile on scott. i guess in some strange way this finally gives you credibility and certainly some solidarity with the left who ate your lunch on a daily basis. to us on the right, you simply have no class.
barry didn’t you know? politics is a contact sport
we are in for a long hot summer of temper tantrums from the obama’s.
this weekend the Tennessee GOP released a light-hearted video holding michelle obama accountable for scripted remarks she made on two separate occasions on the campaign trail on behalf of her husband presidential race.
and well the obama’s are crying again and want the big mean Tennessee GOP to stop it! their “conversation” with GMA’s Robin Roberts insisting that michelle’s comments not be used as political fodder are laughable.
then don’t send her out on the campaign trail to make bitter public statements as your chief surrogate senator! barack obama called the Tennessee GOP “low-class” and “unacceptable” for doing the video. i don’t think so at all but you be the judge:
barack obama is an inexperienced, un-vetted, far-left Liberal candidate for president on the cusp of receiving the democrats’ nomination. his words and his record – and the words and records of his surrogates on the campaign trail – will, and should, receive scrutiny.
he and his supporter’s constant whine because of criticism and dissent is more then just a bit annoying, it’s INCREDULOUS coming from someone who says he can stand up to Iran and North Korea.
WARSAW (Reuters) - Irena Sendler, a Polish woman who saved thousands of Jewish children during World War Two by smuggling them out of the Warsaw Ghetto, died in the Polish capital on Monday after a long illness, local media said.
Israel’s Holocaust remembrance authority, Yad Vashem, said in a statement that it mourned her death.
The web portal of Poland’s leading daily, Gazeta Wyborcza, said Sendler, 98, died in Plocka Street hospital early on Monday. The hospital declined to comment on the report.
Yad Vashem chairman Avner Shalev said: “Irena Sendler’s courageous activities rescuing Jews during the Holocaust serve as a beacon of light to the world, inspiring hope and restoring faith in the innate goodness of mankind.”
Using her position as a social worker, Sendler regularly entered the ghetto, smuggling around 2,500 children out in boxes, suitcases or hidden in trolleys.
The children were then placed with Polish families outside the ghetto, created by Nazi Germany in 1940 for the city’s half a million strong Jewish population, and given new identities.
But in 1943 Sendler, who led the children’ section of the Zegota organisation which helped Jews during the war, was arrested and tortured by the Gestapo.
She only escaped execution when Zegota managed to bribe some Nazi officials, who left her unconscious but alive with broken legs and arms in the woods.
“People who stand up for others, for the weak, are very rare. The world would have been a better place if there were more of them,” Marek Edelman, the last surviving commander of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, said on national television.
His sentiments were echoed by former Polish President Lech Walesa as well as religious leaders.
Sendler was honoured with Israeli Yad Vashem Righteous Among the Nations medal in 1965 for her actions, and later made an honorary Israeli citizen.
dear Irena Sendler knew what it meant to look death in the eye for the sake of others — and most assuredly knew real fear. but she did not tire, she did not falter, and she did not fail. after the escape from prison, she assumed a new identity and continued her work of saving the lives of jewish children from certain death at the hands of the Nazi’s.
she was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize last year but, despite her bravery, she denied she was a hero. she said this in one of her last interviews: “The term ‘hero’ irritates me greatly. The opposite is true. I continue to have pangs of conscience that I did so little.“
she didn’t win that Nobel Peace Prize but if she had, it would have been the first time a nobel prize was awarded in connection to the holocaust. (haaretz.com) Al Gore won instead of Irena.
such a magnificent face and such a magnificent life.
will no democrat ever pass up a chance to ingratiate themselves with a communist dictator and undermine our foreign policies? good grief.
when we are just coming down from the incredibly successful middle east ”tour with terrorists,” by jimmy carter. pfft. now bill richardson, governor of new mexico meets with that sulfur-spewing diablo himself, dictator hugo chavez of venezuela. check out the full story from reuters:
Sun Apr 27
CARACAS (Reuters) - The governor of New Mexico met on Saturday with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in an effort to restart talks with neighboring Colombia to secure the release of hostages held by leftist rebels.
Chavez this year helped free six hostages held for years by the Marxist FARC rebels in Colombia’s four-decade old civil war, but talks have sputtered amid continued bickering between Chavez and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.
“I’ve had a good meeting with President Chavez … (he) has told me that he is willing to help in this situation,” Gov. Bill Richardson told reporters after the meeting…
The leftist Chavez and right-wing Uribehave exchanged bitter accusations throughout the year, even during the hostage release negotiations.
Uribe accuses the self-styled socialist of supporting the FARC rebels, while Chavez says the Colombian leader of advancing Washington’s agenda in the increasingly anti-U.S. Latin American region…
so ok. maybe gov. richardson is just trying to duplicate his incredible success with getting the North Koreans to disarm. *cough*
even putting gov. richardson’s dangerous behavior aside, amazing how our watchdog media refers to the dictator chavez as a “leftist” and president uribe as “right-wing”? *cough, cough*
of course we all knew they would cry like babies when their candidates were actually asked meaningful and relevant questions at last nights’ democratic presidential debate rather then the usual stupid “do you prefer diamonds or pearls?”non-questions they get.
was it our fault or ABC’s fault that hillary and obama stumbled badly on questions regarding their own truthfulness, their own integrity, their own character?
it was not hillary or obama’s finest hour. if you missed the debate, which had an audience of about 10 million, michelle malkin had a terrific live blog you can review here.
after 12 different nationally-televised democratic debates and the lack of policy differences on most topics, what did they think ABC would do — ask ridiculous questions more suitable for mtv? to ignore the huge controversies (bosnia, rev. wright, bittergate) that have erupted between the candidates in the last two months would have been ridiculously irresponsible even for a tired, old media.
today the former president of the US and leader of the free world left a wreath at the gravesite of the father of terrorism in the middle east — yasser arafat – something president bush resolutely refused to do.
the former president also had his first meeting with Hamas where he hugged nasser shaer, a senior Hamas politician. carter called it a warm embrace. *ack*
ok. so i can’t tell if carter is just ignorant, clueless, just plain stupid, or a blending of all three. i do know is that he has now done more to embolden not just the enemies of Israel, but the enemies of his own country, while he pursues whatever insane legacy he is trying to make for himself.
you can’t even call this bravery on his part, because what he did here borders on treason. i am now questioning if this man is actually sane or has gone senile. he has already demonstrated he is the epitome of naivety.
jimmy go away! scat!
UPDATE: another amazing quote from carter regarding his meetings with Hamas. you won’t believe this…..
“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, becausehe speaks for all the people.”
UNBELIEVABLE.
UPDATE: rep. sue myrick (R-NC) issued a press release earlier today calling for carter’s passport to be revoked and rep. joe knollenberg (R-MI) is calling for taxpayer funding to be withdrawn from carter’s academic organization, the carter center.
we mean stay away from microphones, tv cameras, print organizations, and writing books. we mean quit trash talking every administration but your own.
we mean, that the locals really miss you in plains, georgia and wish you would hang out more often in the local coffee shop buying breakfast every morning and never speaking of world affairs ever again.
we know you love thugs — the castro boys, kim jong il, palestinian “freedom fighters” **cough**
… but as it stands, you are really messing stuff up and its quite disgraceful.
thank you and have a nice day,
the entire world
h/t americanprincess blog
UPDATE: as we all know, jimmy carter has generated a lot of controversy by declaring his intention to meet with Hamas *coughterroristscough* on a trip to the middle east. israel will stoke the fires even further by refusing to provide carter with the security normally provided for current and former American presidents. in fact, carter will get no cooperation at all from the shin bet in his travels through israel, gaza, and the west bank. no surprise.
today i listened to barack obama’s “redemption” speech along with the rest of the free world. if you want a transcript, you can get it here. and after mulling on it for a bit, i have a few random thoughts:
the more we learn about him, the more obama seems to be a rather opportunistic politician, impressively smart and disciplined, who has put together a good political career and a terrific presidential campaign. but as i’ve been saying for a while now, there’s not much “audacity of hope” there. this is however calculating ambition coupled with hubris that attempts at great length to convince our nation that this campaign and this candidate are “different.”
today’s speech gave a good analysis of race relations and injustices from a broad perspective but obama simply failed to take responsibility for having an apparently close twenty-year relationship with a racist, anti-american pastor to whom hateful rhetoric from the pulpit appears second nature. obama seemed to claim in his speech that rev. wright’s words were only sentiments of an earlier generation — one that lived precariously through the civil rights era. if that were true why were there so many young people in all those clips whooping and clapping their approval during rev. wrights’ rants?
isn’t obama’s platform one of taking responsibility to the next generation, to end that kind of rhetoric? if obama is a change agent and the candidate who wants to move us all beyond racism to a “one america,” shouldn’t he have spoken out at his own church about rejecting the bitterness and racism of the past?
as obama lectured the nation today on race relations, how responsible or courageous was it of obama to remain silent for 20 years in his own community while this kind of hateful rhetoric was preached week after week to generation after generation including his own little children? he doesn’t glow for me.
is this race baiting or simply speaking truth to power?
barack obama’s pastor says blacks should not sing “God Bless America” but “God d**n America….” *blink*
this is all so jarring. by now many of us have heard the incendiary rhetoric from the pulpit of reverend jeremiah wright. vid clips of his comments have been all over tv and the internet. in a campaign appearance earlier this month, obama tried to explain away some of this rhetoric by saying rev. wright is like the nutty old uncle in the corner. i am not so sure….
listen closely to rev. wright. pay attention to how he thinks, who he is, and the culture of his church…
rev. wright has been obama’s pastor for 20 years. does obama bring his little girls to church to hear this? is this the spiritual teacher obama lets speak into his life? does this kind of hate speech inspire obama? maybe this explains in part why michelle obama is so tragically unhappy with america.
obama has said publically many times that his best selling book “the audacity of hope” was inspired by a sermon of rev. wright. it is that very book that obama has molded his campaign philosophy around - hope and change.
so here is my issue: though i am concerned about the “association” with wright, i am more concerned with the “judgement” of barack obama for staying in a church and aligning himself with a mentor and spiritual leader for 20 years where race baiting and anti-american rhetoric is preached openly and routinely from the pulpit. The obvious deception on obama’s part is he would have us believe that in 20 years of attending that church and being very close to this pastor he only became aware of “one” of these clips in the last year and the rest, more recently this last week. this is incredulous to me and speaks loudly of lousy judgement on obama’s part.
was obama aware of his pastor’s belief system and never really cared until it had political consequences? maybe. though rev. wright was on obama’s campaign team in a largely ceremonial role, formal ties between obama and wright are at an end.
remember the now famous “3 am campaign ad”? hillary implying she had more experience to be president when a disaster or terrorists struck at 3 in the morning? obama hit back by saying HE had the better judgement to take a 3 am call as president.
yikes. um, i don’t think so senator.
alrighty then…
now to help rinse your palette of all the above gunk. here is a fun treat guaranteed to make you smile, cheer, and be proud of your country (unlike michelle). turn it up …
yep, its kate smith singing “God Bless America” from game 6 of the 1974 stanley cup finals in philly.
