the audacity of race baiting

is this race baiting or simply speaking truth to power?

barack obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God d**n America...."  *blink*

this is all so jarring.  by now many of us have heard the incendiary rhetoric from the pulpit of reverend jeremiah wright.  vid clips of his comments have been all over tv and the internet.  in a campaign appearance earlier this month, obama tried to explain away some of this rhetoric by saying rev. wright is like the nutty old uncle in the corner.  i am not so sure....

listen closely to rev. wright.  pay attention to how he thinks, who he is, and the culture of his church...

rev. wright has been obama's pastor for 20 years.  does obama bring his little girls to church to hear this?  is this the spiritual teacher obama lets speak into his life?  does this kind of hate speech inspire obama?  maybe this explains in part why michelle obama is so tragically unhappy with america.

obama has said publically many times that his best selling book "the audacity of hope" was inspired by a sermon of rev. wright.  it is that very book that obama has molded his campaign philosophy around - hope and change.

so here is my issue:  though i am concerned about the "association" with wright, i am more concerned with the "judgement" of barack obama for staying in a church and aligning himself with a mentor and spiritual leader for 20 years where race baiting and anti-american rhetoric is preached openly and routinely from the pulpit.  The obvious deception on obama's part is he would have us believe that in 20 years of attending that church and being very close to this pastor he only became aware of "one" of these clips in the last year and the rest, more recently this last week.  this is incredulous to me and speaks loudly of lousy judgement on obama's part.

was obama aware of his pastor's belief system and never really cared until it had political consequences?  maybe. though rev. wright was on obama's campaign team in a largely ceremonial role, formal ties between obama and wright are at an end.

remember the now famous "3 am campaign ad"?  hillary implying she had more experience to be president when a disaster or terrorists struck at 3 in the morning?  obama hit back by saying HE had the better judgement to take a 3 am call as president.

yikes.  um, i don't think so senator.

alrighty then...

now to help rinse your palette of all the above gunk.  here is a fun treat guaranteed to make you smile, cheer, and be proud of your country (unlike michelle).  turn it up ...

1 - I think Obama has really blown it. I mean his whole campaign is based on decency on judgement on a new way of doing business. He says he didn't attend any sermons that had this kind of preaching in it. Yet he attending the church for 20 years. If Wright was his mentor and friend and "uncle" for 20 years, how could Obama not know he thought these things? I think more tapes will come out, and I think Obama is hurt badly by this. There is a huge hole in his judgement issue.

2 - Hi. This is my first time on your blog. I like it. I think we need more well thought out conservative blogs. I also like the many youtube clips you have. About the Obama pastor situation, I think this is amazing. How can Obama have any sincere credibility left when he says he never heard this guy preach like this until a year ago? He has known him for 20 years. I just heard he also blessed his new house. Hmmmm. I think Obama is lying and thats really too bad because even though he is liberal and I would not vote for him I always thought he was probably a decent guy. This changes things for me and makes me think he is all hype and not sincere at all. I will be back. By the way I tried earlier to registered and it will only allow me to do an anonymous post. But my name is Tom and am from Alabama. Go Rebs! (Comment this)

3 - I think Obama is a teflon candidate. I would say this story won't really hurt him in the long run. (Comment this)

4 - How can you say he won't be hurt by this? Thes goes directly to his heart. Is he credible? Is he honest? Is he unlike all the other politicians that have gone before him? What this shows is that he lies. There will be tapes, pics, and all kinds of other junk showing up now to prove that he knew this preacher was spouting like this. What kind of preacher is this guy anyway?

6 - Zoey why are so many conservatives scared of Obama? I mean he is what this country needs! Our policies are crap, our kids are dying in the middle east, our economy is in the toilet. Obama is what we need. He is a christian why don't you like that?

7 - hi JR good to see you. well i guess i think that obama is a bit confused about what he believes. he has flipflopped badly now on rev. wright with some very inflamed issues of race and anti americanism. and really JR he has no-to-little experience. i think an obama presidency would be a disaster. can you imagine who he would as his closest advisors? as far as his christianity, i guess i am not someone who thinks that as long as you are a christian, i will vote for you. i need other attributes as well. take care. (Comment this)

8 - I am wondering how everyone feels about Obama now since its been a couple of days since his speech. I think he is just as dishonest as every other politician. He is NOT about change at all. He is NOT about hope at all. (Comment this)
