staying in the house Reagan built

so i guess it's going to come down to this:  mccain or romney.

mcain is and always will be an american hero because of his vietnam experience however, as a politician, he has been incredibly unreliable to upholding conservative principles.  some call him a "maverick".  loose cannon is more accurate when you look at the issues in his career that he took a "maverick" stand on:  tax cuts, campaign finance reform, immigration, gang-of-14...  he even has that "open borders" guy, Dr. Juan Hernandez, on his team as a "hispanic outreach" advisor for gosh sakes.  he has, however, been stellar on the War on Terror.

i have a conservative discomfort with romney.  though i believe that positions on issues -- especially life -- change (it did with ronald reagan), i worry that romney's change of heart is simply convenient rather then sincere and trustworthy *coughflipflopcough*.  i do however believe he is a fiscal conservative and has a conservative view point on the War on Terror.  and he is certainly more conservative then mccain.

it's crunch time for conservatives.  with huckabee and paul basically marginalized, we conservatives must either rally to romney or we reconcile ourselves to mccain and all that means.

1 - Its the "all that means" that is the scary part! Go Romney. (Comment this)

2 - I can't find it in myself to vote for a man that thinks he will be god. It is blasphemy from a Christian view. Any man-woman we vote in will have an effect in the religion that he believes in, I for one am not comfortable with empowering mormonism. (Comment this)

3 - this is not an endorsement of romney rather a posting that is pragmatic to the candidate choice for conservatives. when it comes down to it, republicans are limited in who to vote for: one who claims he is conservative yet has proven himself time and time again not to be and harmful to conservatism; and one who is more conservative but has a record of flip flopping. religious comparisons are a whole different thing --- romney's mormonism certainly causes great heartburn for evangelicals and mccain's religion?? well does he really have any? so does saying the sinner's prayer automatically make you more presidential? just curious. thanks for expressing your opinion on my blog. (Comment this)

4 - Maybe we can have a "do over."

I find myself so utterly uncompelled by either McCain or Romney. Can't figure out which one scares me more, or which one seems less reliable.

If I could be convinced that Romney's "conservative conversion" were real, it would help a great deal. But I can't get past that hurdle.

Maybe I'll find myself voting for a VP instead of a POTUS. It's been done before... (Comment this)

5 - zoey, Yes I understand alot of people compartmentalize their religious beliefs from politics, I am not one of them. I believe we keep GOD in everything we do, even voting, errr especially voting in GODLY candidates when possible. A man who is ignorant of GOD may be far less dangerous than someone in a cult, I guess I am saying that a man in his ignorance may have protection from GOD, but an idolator or blasphemer may not, because the sin is the same as satans desire to be GOD, I believe it to be empowered by satan. (Comment this)

6 - with all due respect, i am a not a theologian and i suspect neither are you(?). this posting was simply one dimensional -- political. again, this was not an endorsement of romney however as a student of politics, romney has been alot more honest on the campaign trail then either mccain or huckabee. (Comment this)

7 - I dont disagree with his honesty, or character and no I am not a theologian. Hopefully that doesn't negate my opinion. I have seen much christian theology here, such as the daily bible verse, my point is most christians see mormonism as a cult. At least that has been my experience, I understand you have not endorsed him, I was never attacking you as thinking you had, I am only stating my thoughts you may disagree that is ok. If you look at my first posting you will find a statement, to everyone interested of what I think, just as you stated previously what you think, I didn't imply anything to you, my statement was broader than that, I guess you felt I was attacking you? I am putting my thoughts down, my second response is more direct to what you said regarding religous beliefs being a different comparison. (Comment this)
