not afraid

maybe some have been able to move away from that day abit, but i haven’t.

it’s been 7 years since the attacks of September 11th, 2001 and i still feel a certain kind of anxiety each year as this date approaches.  i have an intensity about what happened, a righteous anger against the kind of religious ideology that says it’s ok to come in and kill us all in the name of god.

the events of that day solidified something in me and millions and millions of other americans:

we are not afraid.  we continue to live our lives the best way we know how. we work, we play, we laugh, we live. we don’t waste one moment, nor sacrifice one bit of our beloved freedom, because of fear.

we are not afraid.

oh, and in the middle of all of our living, we are hunting down the ones who did this to us all over the world and either killing them (my preference) or bringing them to certain justice.

translation?  “i will not submit”.  we have prevailed.  let freedom ring.

I am sad that it seems like many in the country have forgotten what they did to us. I haven’t and never will.

Will George Bush get credit for keeping safe? Not in the near future. No one gives him credit for working so hard to keep us safe. I do though. I think he’s done what we elected him to do. He’s a hero on this day too. And I guess he’s proven that he’s not afraid either.

we dont live in a shell, we go out and live our lives in crowds, and use public transportation. but we still have that inkling of fear that something just might happen again. i think its good to have a bit of fear, it keeps us on our toes and on the offensive.
being complacent is what the true danger is, and thats what the dems have to offer….no thanks!
God bless you George Bush for keeping us safe!

one of my students, yesterday, said to me, “there’s nothing to be afraid of, poepel just keep bringing up 911 to keep the war going” yes I straightened him out, bless his heart, but the thing is he didn’t grow that idea on his own, someone fed it to him, lots of people (sadly ignorant people) believe there is no danger, but I’d rather they go on believing that then be proved wrong, so keep remembering, keep giving speeches and keep ligting candles in the hope that not everyone will forget and that we never let our guard down
