blood, sweat & fear: jack vs chuck

chuck norris told jack bauer that he only killed 15 people cause he ran out of bullets.  jack told him he only killed 93 because he ran out of people....

ok so humor me.  its the weekend and yes besides politics, i have a thing about aliens, zombies, tin foil hats and jack bauer.  i can't explain it and don't you try.

so what is this jack vs chuck talk all about?  well this is what i know:  jack bauer is way better then chuck norris because he has the same initials as james bond and jason bourne.  and chuck?  well, he has the same initials as chris noth.  who?  exactly.   :P

and if that wasn't enough for you to make up your mind in the jack vs chuck phenomena, how about this one:  jack bauer is efficient.  he can take down an entire terrorist network in 24 hours. from nuclear bombs to sentox nerve gas, he needs just one day. norris needed years, not to mention several sequels, to free our Vietnam POWs.   jack would have NEVER supported huckabee.  and jack is so amazing, 39% of Americans believe he is real!

still not totally convinced?  watch this:

so there you go.  jack makes chuck cry like a girl.  hurry back jack.

pink pointy hats

those pink moonbats have outdone themselves this time!  the ridiculous hags of code pink are now, in desperation, casting spells on the Marines they have been protesting in Berkeley for eons now.

they say this is simply a recruitment effort to increase their numbers of supporters protesting Berkeley's controversial Marine Corp Recruitment Center - Semper Fi!

the women's anti-war group has told ralliers to come equipped with spells and pointy hats *coughpublicitygimmickcough* today for "Witches, Clowns and Sirens Day" -- the last of the group's weeklong "homage" to Mother's Day.  oh please!

head moonbat for code pink in the bay area, Zanne Sam Joi told FOXNEWS "women are coming to cast spells and do rituals and to impart wisdom to figure out how we're going to end war."

this week has been full of pink-themed protests in honor of Mother's Day which included days to "galvanize grannies" and the ever popular "bring-your-junior-female-moonbat-to-protest" day.  these however didn't do much to boost their lowering numbers.  *smirk*

recruiter Capt. John Paul Wheatcroft said he's unfazed by code pink's antics.  "They're always in pink and wear funny things, half-shaved heads, one side with hair and the other one bald, yeah, I'm pretty much used to anything." he told FOXNEWS.

for some fun click here to watch a FOXNEWS "protest" cam stationed at the scene to catch any action by those wild and crazy moonbats in pink!

h/t to zombie as always for such delicious pictures!

UPDATE:  can the space around these moonbats get any more bizarro?  it seems Chris F. a "pagan" and 12 yr. armed forces veteran is appalled at the pink coven's recent activities.  he said, "These Code Twit girls are so full of it, it’s ridiculous. I’m half tempted to sue them for religious slander and a hate crime against pagans for acting like such idiots."

dem veep stakes

obama & clinton in '08.  is this dream team or just a bad dream?  this won't happen.  especially since one of the best jokes around is obama better employ a trusted food taster if he picks her for his veep!  here are my thoughts ...

obama's take:  well obama seems quite put out with hillary for a variety of reasons including the fact that he has had the nomination locked up for weeks (i guess he doesn't like end runs!).  he also hates that he should be asked tough questions about his associations like every other candidate (republicans), i mean after all is he not the messiah? obama is also put out that hillary has also played the race card against him numerous times which he thinks is one of the reasons his numbers with white males is in the toity.  and really, he thinks, how can he be a racist??  he's black for gosh sakes!  *coughSHARPTONcough*  *coughJACKSONcough*

hillary's take:  she can't believe this upstart rookie has actually taken THE PRIZE away from her and prevented the clampetts oops i mean clintons from going back where they belong: the White House.  it was to be her coronation after all -- remember?  and then there was that little dust up with bill in south carolina...  i am sure she feels that obama's people are to blame for the loss of respect and esteem for the former president.

but wait!  the flipside?  there is "my precious" -- the gold ring -- the allure of power, history, legacy.  ok the vice presidency.  sometimes this is like the balm of gilead soothing wounds and making the impossible, possible.  click here to see what that sear of ABC politics, george stephanopolis thinks.

so the upshot is the only way obama will put hillary on the ticket is if it was determined he couldn't beat mccain without her.  period.

the best gift for obama would be that obligatory pic of the 2 of them together -- once bitter rivals -- now hands clasped and raised in unity at the convention in denver.  blech.

he'll most likely get that pic.  once he's the official nominee, there will be a hard court press to pull the 2 sides together.  expect clinton's more prominent supporters, like ed rendell, to have prime time speaking slots during the convention.  i also imagine that some clinton staffers will be given high profile positions in obama's campaign as well.  everything will be done to present a totally unified party...

...except making hillary the veep.

the republican players for veep coming soon!

freedom really isn't free

can you help?

my new friend and Cotillion member, Jane Novak, blogs passionately about the corruption of the Yemeni government at her blog, the Armies of Liberation.  she is also a contributor at the Jawa Report.  as we all know, the government of Yemen has little or no regard for human rights, democratic principles, and freedom for their people.  they actively suppress journalists who seek to uncover and promote truth.

her post today is compelling and calls us all to action.  it's about a prominent pro-democracy journalist in Yemen who is facing a jail sentence again for simply printing the truth, and speaking his mind.

Renowned journalist Abdulkarim al-Khaiwani is one of Yemen's most prominent democracy advocates - for which he has paid a steep price. His paper has been closed, his website blocked, and his children threatened. He is now due to be sentenced on May 21 for "insulting the president" and "demoralizing the military."

During his arrest in June of 2007, Al-Khaiwani was beaten and his six-year-old daughter slapped unconscious. While released on bail in August, Al-Khaiwani was kidnapped and tortured by thugs who threatened his life if he continued to write about Yemen's president.

you can help Abdulkarim al-Khaiwani by clicking on the widget in my sidebar over there --->> or going here.

let freedom ring... even in Yemen.

the audacity of convenience

ok. so many politicians lie.  and when they do, its usually for convenience sake.  but numbers don't lie.  a recent rasmussen poll showed a majority of likely voters think the only reason that barack obama finally denounced reverend jeremiah wright was because it was politically convenient.

well, ya think??

the same poll shows 56 % think that it's somewhat likely that he shares some of rev. wright's controversial views about the US.  26% say it's very likely.

so what's the point?  barack obama has invalidated his entire campaign.  from day one of his candidacy, he wanted us to think that he was different; that he's a washington outsider' that he's not going to play politics as usual.  "I'm a fresh face that we can trust."  now it's quite clear he's part of the problem, not the solution.

we all know for 20 years, obama sat in rev. wright's church.  he listened to his sermons.  he had wright perform his marriage ceremony, baptize his kids, bless his home.  obama even appointed this guy as an official spiritual adviser to his campaign, a "sounding board" as he called it.  cough*clangingsymbols*  you've heard all of this -- i've blogged all of this.

it only took you and me a couple of weeks to recognize the racist, angry, anti-american hate speech in all of those sermons that obama sat through -- like a sponge? --for 2 decades!  all along, obama kept saying, "That's not the guy I know."

say wut?

last week, reverend wright went out of his way to prove that he IS the man he's always been: 20 years ago, last week, and today.  when it was obvious that nobody was really buying into obama's story anymore, he decided that it was best for him to denounce wright.  it's simply deception for any of us to still believe that barack obama didn't know exactly who this guy was the whole time and what he believed.

it's painful for some of you i know, but barack obama is just a politician, not a messiah.  and politicians have one goal in life:  to get elected.  telling the truth is many times a last resort  -- we learned that lesson from the clintons didn't we?

and now that we know this, we can finally admit this election really IS about race...  the race for the presidency and doing whatever it takes to stay in it.

tick...tick...tick...

ok maybe i am daydreaming a bit because it's friday but i was thinking that in this incredibly bizarre primary season, maybe what we really need is a whole new candidate...

Jackbauerforpresident_3

if you are a big fan of 24 like i am, check out Jack Bauer for President: Terrorism and Politics in 24.  it is a compilation of essays "using our current political climate to enrich viewers’ experience of 24."

This book addresses how much of the show is realistic and what it has to say about modern politics and foreign policy in America’s fight against terrorism. Essays look at issues including the show’s images of terrorism, the ethics and effectiveness of the characters’ counterterrorism practices, the portrayal of government and politics on the show, whether it takes a terrorist to fight a terrorist, how much “the people” have a right to know in life-threatening circumstances, and how effective we really want our heroes to be.

more information about the  book is available at the BenBella Books website.  the book was edited by the terrific Richard Miniter and includes a wide variety of contributors including Alan Dershowitz - yes, THAT Alan Dershowitz.  h/t byrd droppings

so, why check out the book?  because jack says so.

oh and a blatherings "extra"  for my fellow 24 afficionados who have watched since season 1....

if Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and Nina Myers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he’d shoot Nina twice.  i love that one and check out blogs 4 bauer for "all things jack".

roosting chickens and a bag of chips!

in response to the rev. wright buffoonery at the national press club on monday, obama made this statement at his own press conference yesterday:  "Rev. Wright does not speak for me. He doesn’t speak for our campaign. I can’t prevent him from making these outrageous remarks…When I say I find these statements appalling, I mean it…Makes me angry and saddens me.”  “The person I saw was not the person that I’d come to know over 20 years…Shocked me, surprised me.”

the clips of these quotes are here.

but wait!  there is indeed more.  thanks to ALa at blonde sagacity  for the following...

"...The Rev. Jeremiah Wright would be happy to see Barack Obama's presidential campaign derailed because the pastor is fuming that his former congregant has "betrayed" their 20-year relationship,

The Post has learned. "After 20 years of loving Barack like he was a member of his own family, for Jeremiah to see Barack saying over and over that he didn't know about Jeremiah's views during those years, that he wasn't familiar with what Jeremiah had said, that he may have missed church on this day or that and didn't hear what Jeremiah said, this is seen by Jeremiah as nonsense and betrayal," said the source, who has deep roots in Wright's Chicago community and is familiar with his thinking on the matter."
The New York Post

all that and a bag of chips. *snap*
